Turbo & Exhaust Upgrades — Gold Coast & Tweed

Turbocharger repairs, upgrades and performance exhaust systems for diesel 4x4s, utes and trucks across the Gold Coast and Tweed. Better breathing means more torque, cooler running and a stronger tow vehicle.

The turbo is the single biggest limit on what a diesel engine can do. Get air in and out more efficiently and everything improves — torque comes on earlier, exhaust gas temperatures drop under load, and the engine stops running out of breath at the top of a long climb. We diagnose and repair failed turbos, fit upgraded units where more airflow is genuinely needed, and build exhaust systems that suit the vehicle rather than just making noise.

    What's Included

    Turbocharger diagnostics, repairs and replacement
Upgraded and high-flow turbo supply and fitting
Variable geometry turbo (VNT) cleaning and actuator repair
Performance and 3-inch exhaust systems for diesel 4x4s
Exhaust manifold crack repairs and upgrades
Boost leak testing and intake system repairs
    Front-mount and upgraded intercooler fitment
Matching ECU tuning to suit the new hardware

    Turbo Repairs and Diagnosis

Whistling, whining or a sudden loss of boost usually means the turbo, but not always. Boost leaks, split intercooler pipes, a sticking variable geometry mechanism or a faulty boost solenoid produce identical symptoms and cost a fraction to fix. We pressure test the intake system and check actuator operation before we condemn a turbo.

Where a turbo has genuinely failed, we determine why. Oil starvation, a blocked drain line, foreign object damage or carbon build-up in the VNT vanes each need a different fix, and fitting a new cartridge without addressing the cause simply buys you a second failure.

Turbo Upgrades for Towing and Touring

An upgraded turbo makes the most sense on a vehicle that works hard — towing a van up the range, carrying a full touring load, or already running a custom tune that has reached the limit of the factory compressor. A well-matched upgrade delivers more airflow at the boost the engine already runs, which means more torque and lower exhaust gas temperatures rather than just a bigger number.

Sizing matters. Too large a turbo kills low-rev response and makes the vehicle miserable around town. We select units that suit your engine, your load and your driving, then match the tune to the hardware.

    Performance Exhaust Systems

A restrictive exhaust traps heat and pressure in the engine. Opening up the system with a properly sized, mandrel-bent 3-inch exhaust reduces backpressure, drops exhaust gas temperatures under load and lets a tune work as intended. On a towing vehicle the temperature benefit alone is worth the job.

We fit quality stainless and aluminised systems, repair cracked manifolds, and can pair exhaust work with an upgraded intercooler and a matched tune as a complete airflow package. All systems are fitted with emissions equipment intact.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my turbo is failing?

Loss of power, a whining or whistling noise, blue or black smoke, excessive oil use or a boost-related fault code are the usual signs. We pressure test the intake and check the actuator first, because boost leaks and sticking VNT vanes cause the same symptoms far more cheaply.

Is a 3-inch exhaust worth it on a diesel?

On a vehicle that tows or carries weight, yes. Lower backpressure means cooler exhaust gas temperatures and better torque, and it lets a custom tune deliver what it should. On a lightly used daily it is a smaller gain.

Do I need a tune after fitting a turbo or exhaust?

For a turbo upgrade, absolutely — the ECU needs to know about the new hardware to make use of it safely. After an exhaust alone a tune is optional, but it is where most of the benefit is realised.

Will an exhaust upgrade be legal and pass inspection?

Yes. We fit systems with emissions equipment retained and keep noise within legal limits. We do not perform emissions equipment deletes.

Can you repair my existing turbo rather than replace it?

Often. VNT cleaning, actuator repair and cartridge replacement are all viable depending on the damage. We will assess it and give you both options with prices.
