Toyota LandCruiser Tuning — Gold Coast & Tweed
Custom Toyota LandCruiser tuning across the Gold Coast and Tweed. Whether you run a 200 Series tow vehicle, a new 300 Series or a 79 Series ute that works for a living, we build the map around your load — not a generic file.
The LandCruiser is the vehicle we see loaded more heavily than any other. Bar work, canopy, drawers, water, long-range tank, rooftop tent and a three-tonne van behind it — and a factory tune that was calibrated for a bare vehicle on smooth bitumen. Custom tuning is the single most effective change you can make to a loaded LandCruiser: torque arrives earlier, the transmission stops shuffling gears on hills, and exhaust gas temperatures come down where it matters, on long climbs at full weight.
What's Included
200 Series Tuning
The 4.5L twin-turbo V8 in the 200 Series responds extremely well to a custom tune. From the factory it is deliberately soft off the bottom and conservative on fuelling, which shows up as a lazy feel with a van on the back and gear hunting on long grades. A properly written map delivers noticeably more torque from around 1,500rpm, sharper throttle response and a transmission that holds a gear instead of shuffling.
Owners towing at or near the limit usually see the biggest benefit — the vehicle sits at highway speed on climbs with less throttle, and it does that at lower exhaust gas temperatures than the factory calibration. Fuel figures typically improve slightly on the highway because the engine works less hard for the same job.
300 Series and 79 Series
The 300 Series 3.3L V6 twin-turbo is a strong engine with plenty of headroom, and tuning brings out a considerable amount of usable torque along with much crisper throttle response. It is a favourite among customers who tow heavy vans and want the engine to feel effortless rather than busy.
The 79 Series and its 76 and 78 Series siblings are working vehicles, and they get a working vehicle's tune: pulling power from low revs, clean loaded take-offs and reliability under sustained load. Whether it is a station ute, a mine-spec vehicle or a touring build, we tune it around the job.
Supporting Modifications and Reliability
A tune works best when the engine can breathe and stay cool. On heavily loaded LandCruisers we often recommend a 3-inch exhaust and an upgraded intercooler alongside the tune, and transmission cooling for vehicles towing at the upper end of their rating. Where airflow genuinely runs out, an upgraded turbo package is the next step.
We check the vehicle's mechanical health before tuning and monitor exhaust gas temperatures, boost and rail pressure throughout. If your LandCruiser needs a service or has a fuel system issue, we will sort that first — a tune should never be used to paper over a mechanical problem.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much power will a LandCruiser tune add?
On a healthy stock 200 Series or 300 Series, gains in the order of 20 to 30 per cent in power and torque are typical, with the biggest improvement felt in the low and mid range. We give you a realistic figure for your specific vehicle before we start.
Will tuning improve towing with a heavy van?
That is where it shines. A towing map focuses on mid-range torque and lower exhaust gas temperatures, so the vehicle holds highway speed on climbs with less throttle and less gear hunting.
Do you tune the 300 Series?
Yes — the 3.3L V6 twin-turbo responds very well and there is good headroom for safe, reliable gains in torque and throttle response.
Will a tune affect my Toyota warranty?
Talk to us before booking and we will explain your options honestly for your vehicle and its age. We keep the standard calibration on file so it can be reinstated if needed.
Does the tune change fuel economy?
Most customers see a small improvement in highway and towing economy because the engine is working less hard for the same output. Drive it hard and it will drink more.
Do I need an exhaust before tuning?
Not necessarily, but on a loaded or towing LandCruiser a 3-inch exhaust and better intercooling let the tune deliver more, at lower exhaust temperatures. We will tell you what your vehicle actually needs.
